Summary Note
On January 27, 1945, Red Army troops enter the Auschwitz concentration camp and are confronted with evidence of one of the most monstrous war crimes in modern history. Together with the Russian soldiers, a handful of photographers and reporters also pass through the gate. Among them is Vady, a 16 year old Ukrainian boy. As an assistant to two war photographers, with whom he will form a very deep friendship, Vady discovers the horrors hidden in Auschwitz and then of nearby Birkenau, documenting them with an old Leika camera.
